WHAT TO WEAR: Weekend Wear

March 5th, 2015 at 2:00am

The weekend is something every college student looks forward to. With weekdays packed with classes, meetings and presentations, a break from the stress of school is what everyone needs to survive the semester. I spotted this Fashionista while at a CollegeFashionista brunch one late Sunday afternoon. While most kids on campus are tucked under their blankets, she braved the cold weather to come mingle and network with fellow Fashionistas.

Although it may be winter, ripped jeans are still a trend that can be worn. This trend is an easy way to add an edgy touch to any outfit. I like her jeans because they are ripped down the whole leg without looking to ragged and destroyed. Jeans like this can be bought in any store but if you want to tailor the rips to your particular taste, grab a pair of old jeans and make them yourself. To add to her edgy look she wore a leather jacket over a feminine lace crop top. Crop tops are another warm weather trend that she is bringing into the winter months. This subtle feminine touch to her look contrast well with the grunge look of her leather jacket and ripped jeans. To finish off her look, she added a clutch with a statement graphic. Not only is it eye-catching, but it’s a fun way to carry all of your weekend essentials in. For footwear, she stuck to the leather trend and added a pair of heeled booties.

Whether it’s a Sunday morning brunch or an evening out with friends, this outfit is versatile for a weekend packed with fun.

One Simple Change: This Fashionista dressed up her look to make it more dressy for an event. Want to try this look during the weekday for class? Swap out the booties and clutch for a pair of high-top sneakers and backpack and you’ll have a stylish look for the weekday.

Hey there Fashionista’s! I loved writing last semester as a Style Guru so I'm back for my second semester and couldn't be more excited. I may go to school in the cold and snowy city of Syracuse, but that doesn't stop me and tons of other Fashionistas and Fashionistos from getting around campus in style. Categorizing my style into one word is not that simple for me because it is all over the place. My style tends to vary between simple all black outfits, to wearing bold colors and prints. It really depends on the day and my mood! With that being said, stay tuned every Thursday this semester for my weekly post. For daily updates check out my Instagram!
