WHAT TO WEAR: Greek Life

September 30th, 2015 at 2:00am

I’ve always been a fan of individuals who represent themselves well and the organizations they are involved in. Not only are Greek organization designs automatically fashionable, but wearing their letters alone help make a strong statement.

This Fashionisto elevated a simple muscle tank top by wearing it with a pair of desert camouflage jeans that complemented the overall color scheme of the gold & brown. He also showed his Iota Phi Theta pride by rocking his fraternity symbol as a necklace. A double bonus –the beaded necklace is made of different shades of wood, that plays well with the rest of his outfit. That accessory along with a timeless gold watch makes for the perfect combination. These small pieces speak to his personality as well as grab the attention of colleagues on campus.

Being a part of an exclusive group of people is an experience in itself. So it’s natural to want to share with the rest of the world what you can about them. Stepping out into the element is a lot easier with the help of a forever classic pair of Timberland boots. Playing with different shades of color keeps things fun and casual.

Whether you are going to classes for the day, headed to a few parties for the night or attending Greek-focused events, this look is one to stand out without much work involved.

One Simple Change: Fall weather is right around the corner; you can add a denim jacket to this outfit to keep yourself warm and comfortable, while maintaining this Greek-inspired style.

Hey! My name is Amirah King and I am a Senior Photojournalism major at Ball State University. In no way, shape, or form do I consider myself to be a fashion expert. But I do have an eye for details and subtle 'flash'. Things that tend to catch my attention tend to be bold and monochromatic. So anything black & white, with accessories that compliment will usually excite me more than a cluster of colors. For example, one of my favorite fashion icons is Janelle Monae, which is known for her simple yet attention grabbing ensembles. Other style influences are Chris Brown, Angel Haze, & Rihanna to name a few. Right now my personal style is what I call Plane Jane. I like to be comfortable, keep things basic, to the point, but is still considered 'fly' to peers. Currently, I try to incorporate "menswear" to open up my options. I think being versatile in general is a great quality to have. The '90s style and Fall/Winter season is my all time favorite. I live for denim and layering, with hats, all to stay warm! I'm looking forward to sharing my comfort first perspective with you all!
