WHAT TO WEAR: Date Night

July 28th, 2016 at 2:00am

An upcoming, eye-opening trend seen strutting down the runways, taken from the bedroom and then transformed to compliment the catwalk are replacing haute-couture gowns and embellished garments. Lace bralettes and silk slips are guaranteed to make heads turn. Eyes on the inviting chiffon fabric barely hiding the bare flesh, your date, intrigued by the racy garments exposing the naked skin. This risqué trend is applauded by Fashionistas around the world, and now it’s your turn to smile for the camera (or your date’s iPhone)!

This fashionable new trend consists of pieces with enhanced nude zones and lingerie details emphasizing the future romance recognized in the fashion industry. An outfit worn on a date should be sassy and sensual, yet at the same time, classy and fashion forward. This look fits this Fashionista’s criteria, as it is innocent enough to be classified as cute, but edgy enough to be on the cover of Vogue, as it guarantees you a second date!

To create a chic, stylish outfit, pair an off-white, satin mini dress with a leather jacket, creates a perfect balance of trendy and romantic, perfect for a night out with your crush! The floral detail on the bust adds a flirtatious touch to the high fashion look, defined by chunky, suede heels. Layering sleepwear and outer nightwear compliment one another forming a trend so sophisticated and fierce. To accessorize the trendy nightgown typically worn casually and privately, a gold double-strand necklace, a pair of vibrant sunglasses, and a sparkly, fringe clutch make this style a must-have for every trendsetter!

One Simple Change: This look can be translated to look as “à la mode” and promising as it did on date night, when wearing it to a celebration! Whether it is a birthday bash or graduation barbecue, this outfit can still be sported with one change of a shoe! Trading in your black, strappy heels for a pair of high-top Converses transforms this look from mature to modern.

Everyone can recall back to middle school, or maybe even high school, the awkward first day of class, going around the room, stating your name, and three things about yourself. Things including; activities, hobbies, passions, or maybe even adjectives that you used to describe yourself. Qualities and characteristics that you wanted people to know about you. Fast forward four years, and I'm still introducing myself. Instead of the casual, "hi I'm Mollie, I'm a cheerleader and I like pizza", I find myself wanting people to know more about who I am rather than just what uniform I wore on Friday nights and what food I liked to eat with my friends. I don't want to tell people who I am, but I want to show them. Through fashion, I'm able to express who I am, and what makes me unique without stating my name, and my favorite food. My love for art and fashion has brought me to attend Savannah College of Art and Design, where I am majoring in fashion design. Savannah is a gorgeous, exciting city, and I'm so lucky to be living here! Along with fashion, I love running, playing with my two puppies, and relaxing at the beach. You can always find me outside reading Vogue and listening to Justin Bieber's newest album!
