STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Back to Black

June 10th, 2015 at 2:00am

Let’s face it, although the birds are chirping and the sun is out, black is always a good idea. It’s simple, slimming, sexy and chic. It hides all insecurities yet accentuates features that are important and guarantees ultimate style satisfaction. There will always be various fads, but one thing is for certain: it is always acceptable to go back to black.

For those who stick to strictly all-black attire, it is crucial to exercise a pop of color or detail every once in a while. However small the accent may be, it could dramatically change the outfit for the better.

This Fashionista struts her stuff in black and adds a spunky cheetah print scarf for character, definition and even a little bit of warmth for those chilly San Francisco nights. Her lace-up oxford heels and bold, comfortable harem pants add a touch of versatility to her ensemble, as they are appropriate for a quick bite to eat with friends or a night at the theatre. She throws on a fitted black pea coat, tosses her hair in a messy bun and is ready to conquer the world—or a cup of coffee.

If scarves aren’t your personal forte, include a colorful handbag in your getup, and you’ll be good to go! For that extra punch, try some quirky hairstyles to ensure your hair is looking hot, just like you.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “A true Fashionista looks her best when achieving total confidence, comfort and class.”

Hello, I’m Audrey! I attend Syracuse University in upstate New York, but was born and raised in the San Francisco, California Bay Area. My first year away from home was a tough one, but I learned so much about myself and I can’t wait to be back on campus in the fall! My style consists of funky statement pieces, an array of neutral colors, a perfect combination of jewelry and always a swipe of colorful lipstick. My favorite stores include ASOS, Urban Outfitters, Top Shop and Free People, but I rely heavily on thrift stores to help finish off an incomplete outfit. You can most likely find me on a hike, in the local coffee shop, online shopping, or eating my way through the Bay Area. Style on!
