STYLE GURU STYLE: Keep It Cool

Of all the runway seasons, pre-fall collections always seem to grasp my attention. When browsing through previous seasons I found the Rebecca Minkoff pre-fall 2013 collection and fell in love. For a while, I have loved her collections—specifically the bags which prompted me to purchase a cross-body bag that I have yet to stop wearing. Each look in the collection is styled perfectly capturing a casual and layered fall style. What stood out to me in this collection was the way she mixed textures and prints. Through mixing prints and patterns she creates outfits which easily transition between warm and breezy weather.

Taking inspiration from this collection, my look incorporates different aspects from the entire collection. Normally, my style is minimalistic, so staying true to my style, I stuck to a white and black outfit. The top I am wearing is a quilted shirt from Gap. This top is perfect for fall weather because it bulky but the short sleeves allow me to wear while it is not too cold. I drew inspiration from the collection with the quilted vest, and chunkier sweaters. I decided to pair my top with a pair of black ripped jeans similar to the jeans in the collection. To finish off this outfit, I wore white sneakers with a green accent, and an arrangement of jewelry including my everyday bracelets and rings.

Get My Look: 1. A textured, quilted sweater. 2. Classic white sneakers. 3. Some trendy black ripped jeans.

Hey there Fashionista’s! I loved writing last semester as a Style Guru so I'm back for my second semester and couldn't be more excited. I may go to school in the cold and snowy city of Syracuse, but that doesn't stop me and tons of other Fashionistas and Fashionistos from getting around campus in style. Categorizing my style into one word is not that simple for me because it is all over the place. My style tends to vary between simple all black outfits, to wearing bold colors and prints. It really depends on the day and my mood! With that being said, stay tuned every Thursday this semester for my weekly post. For daily updates check out my Instagram!
