STYLE GURU STYLE: Denim On Denim

June 26th, 2015 at 2:00am

Like everyone, my style has evolved throughout the years. When I was younger I would have never put the colors black and brown together, denim with denim was a no no and Birkenstocks were ugly! Now I love mixing black with brown, I live to put denim together with more denim and Birkenstock sandals are angels sent from above. The Ulla Johnson spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection conveys simplicity and easy to wear looks that inspired my outfit. The collection contains a variety of breathable fabrics, loose silhouettes and a subtle color palette. I am a fan of the blue, black and white color palette mainly because I am not a big fan of bright colors and it aids in the simplicity of the collection. The Ulla Johnson collection eludes a vibe of being effortlessly chic.

In order to easily translate the designer’s  look I went for denim on denim.  I placed a blue denim top through the belt loops of a pair of distressed jeans. I kept the color palette neutral with gray, black and blue, as seen in the collection. I choose a Birkenstock knockoff sandal because in the collection there were fashionable sandals seen throughout  and I just continued the trend in an affordable way. I remixed the inspired look by incorporating a tight fit ribbed top. Most of the pieces on the runway were loose fit but I like to combine loose with tight fitted clothes to add contrast. For accessories I went with a black and white clutch and studded skull earrings.

Get My Look: 1. A ribbed top. 2. Jeans. 3. Sandals.
