STYLE GURU STYLE: Boyfriend Jeans

February 25th, 2016 at 2:00am

Cozied up and comfortable is my way of getting through January and February with winter in full swing. A good way to take an outfit and make it cozy is by adding a sweater and a warm jacket. I put this down jacket to good use from December through March when the weather is cold. I’ve taken this cozy jacket and paired it with a pair of boyfriend jeans.

Taking inspiration from Madewell’s fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection, I combined these jeans with a sweater and a warm jacket. The collections shows how jeans can be made contemporary by adding different coats and jackets. Instead of pairing these jeans with a structured peacoat, I paired the jeans with a white down jacket. The styles within the article are described as “boyish and artfully undone.” The fit of these jeans I’m wearing are “slim, broken-in boyfriend jeans,” so they appear as comfortable as they feel. The jeans are casual enough to wear any day of the week and can be dressed up or dressed down. I dressed up this outfit by adding heeled booties. My goal with this outfit was to take the relaxed look of boyfriend jeans and pair the look with a more sophisticated shoe. The point of the shoe also elongates the leg, which is always a plus! These jeans are a great transition into spring. This look can easily be paired with a relaxed T-shirt and sandals when spring rolls around.

This outfit includes a cowl neck sweater and a white down jacket on the top and a pair of J.Crew boyfriend jeans on the bottom. To add to the look, I added a pair of tan booties with a chunky heel. This sweater is always my go-to top for a chilly winter day. I can pair it with my favorite pair of leggings or a pair of jeans. It’s easy to take any of the pieces I am wearing and transform them into different looks for any occasion!

Get My Look: 1. Cowl-neck sweater. 2. Boyfriend jeans. 3. Down jacket. 4. Tan booties.
