Hi there style enthusiasts! My name is Valerie Smith and I am double majoring in hotel, restaurant, tourism management and public relations with a minor in business at State University of New York at Plattsburgh. I feel everyone is really excited about this new year, so start new projects and use everyday surroundings for new aspirations. In addition to CollegeFashionista, I would like to start up my own personal blog this semester.

“Most importantly love like it’s the only thing you know how at the end of the day all this means nothing this page where you’re sitting your degree our job the money nothing even matters except love and human connection who you loved and how deeply you loved them how you touched the people around you and how much you gave them,” Milk and Honey pg. 194.

These words jumped out the page and into my heart. I believe we often forget what’s important. These are words I would like to live by this year.

My style is described by the need to walk out the door, look effortless, but also put a little thought into it. I like to look complete and it’s not for anyone else but myself. At the end of the day, you only have your solitude, and style can be used to your advantage.

This outfit has been my go to look for the holiday season. I like going out when my boots add to what my height already gives me. These booties I have been on a hunt for a while. From Zara, they’re different because the suede of the shoe melts into the heal. Cut-out neck/choker shirts make an outfit feel more sophisticated and complete. The shirt peek-a-boos the dangly star choker that adds a little shine. Having a cross-body metallic bag is not only different looking but fun. It adds youth and personality into a sophisticated outfit like this one.

Going to school like SUNY Plattsburgh has taught me to dress warm and what cold really is. When dressing for this spring, try to use colors that gives a certain mood to the cold months.
