STYLE GURU BIO: Amirah King

August 31st, 2015 at 2:10am

Hey there! My name is Amirah King and I am a senior Photojournalism major at Ball State University. In no way, shape or form do I consider myself to be a fashion expert. However, I do have an eye for details. The things that tend to catch my attention are usually bold and monochrome. Anything black and white with accessories that will complement me usually excites me more than a cluster of colors. Although, I do like to add a pop of color every once in a while.

One of my favorite fashion icons is Janelle Monae, who is known for her simple yet attention grabbing ensembles. Other style influences are Chris Brown, Angel Haze, Teyanna Taylor and Rihanna to name a few. At the moment, my personal style is what I call “plain Jane.” I like to be comfortable, keep things basic and to the point, but still be considered cool to my peers. Currently, I try to incorporate menswear pieces as a new way to experiment. I think being versatile in general is a great quality to have.

The ’90s style, fall and winter season are my all-time favorite. I live for denim and love layering with hats, anyting that will help me stay warm. I’m really looking forward to sharing my comfortable style and perspective with you all, as well sharing the Fashionistas/os I encounter this fall!

Hey! My name is Amirah King and I am a Senior Photojournalism major at Ball State University. In no way, shape, or form do I consider myself to be a fashion expert. But I do have an eye for details and subtle 'flash'. Things that tend to catch my attention tend to be bold and monochromatic. So anything black & white, with accessories that compliment will usually excite me more than a cluster of colors. For example, one of my favorite fashion icons is Janelle Monae, which is known for her simple yet attention grabbing ensembles. Other style influences are Chris Brown, Angel Haze, & Rihanna to name a few. Right now my personal style is what I call Plane Jane. I like to be comfortable, keep things basic, to the point, but is still considered 'fly' to peers. Currently, I try to incorporate "menswear" to open up my options. I think being versatile in general is a great quality to have. The '90s style and Fall/Winter season is my all time favorite. I live for denim and layering, with hats, all to stay warm! I'm looking forward to sharing my comfort first perspective with you all!
