STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Summer Comfort Ft. Yeezys

June 9th, 2016 at 2:00am

Ah, summer is finally here. Aren’t you excited for the warm weather? For the style advice of this week, this fashionista will show you how to look cute and stay cool without sacrificing comfort!

I decided that in order to remain comfortable yet still look cute, you should focus on your accessories. This Fashionista is a perfect example by pairing her plain black tee with her cuffed high-waisted shorts.  Her shorts fit her very well. It is not hip hugging, however, the shorts do not look like they are too big on her. They allow her to move around a lot and stay cool during this warm day. Earlier I mentioned that accessorizing is a good way to make your outfit look cute. I would like to mention that you should not over accessorize. With this Fashionista, she accessorized with these cool Ray-Bans and a gold watch. If you over accessorize, it can look a bit overwhelming. I recommend pairing two statement jewelry pieces with a simple outfit, whether if it is a necklace and a pair of earrings or a headband and some bracelets. Finally, she finished her outfit off with a pair of Yeezy Boosts. An outfit that is laid back like hers would look great with sneakers such as Yeezy, adidas Superstar or Converse! Pairing sneakers with your outfit will allow you to be more comfortable when you are walking around exploring the city! In addition to that, you will look sporty and chic at the same time.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “When it comes to dressing cute, you do not need to buy a whole new outfit. You can simply dress up with accessories. In addition to that, pairing sneakers with your outfit can still look cute and comfortable at the same time. You just have to find the right ones.”

As redundant this may be, my name is Trina! I attend the University of Missouri - Columbia. I am studying Textile Apparel Management while minoring in Business and Journalism. My interest in fashion started at a very young age. My grandmother was a seamstress and I would always hover her shoulder as she was sewing. However, I chose the Fashion Journalism route instead because I knew I had a passion for writing after participating in my high school's newspaper club. After graduating, I hope to work for a fashion magazine as either their writer or a fashion coordinator. However, after a successful career in the journalism industry, I want to open up my own boutique in my hometown. I am excited to be your Style Guru and I hope these articles will help you! My style is very versatile. I can be edgy one day, and very girly the next day. And that is one of the reasons why I love fashion so much. You are able to express yourself in various ways through clothing and accessories as well. Another interest of mine besides fashion would be makeup and hair! It is also another form of expressing yourself. I love having the opportunity to switch up my look and express my mood. I am very excited to write a blog for the beauty bar and have my friends to share some of their tips as well. Once again, I am excited to be your style guru! Maybe a bit TOO excited. I am very grateful for this opportunity. I have been keeping up with College Fashionista since the day I started looking at colleges. Who knew that this would have an impact on where I was going to attend?! I cannot wait to see the other Style Gurus and their articles as well!
