ALL IN THE DETAILS: Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes

The best part about the summer is having the freedom to travel and experience fashion from different cities. Over the weekend, I had the chance to drive to Chicago and expand my CollegeFashionista horizons.

We are halfway through the summer and if you haven’t hopped on the off-the-shoulder trend, its time that you do. This style perfectly combines modesty and intimacy into your look. It is a great way to show some skin without showing too much. This particular striped top is from the Urban Outfitters Surplus store in Chicago and I went and purchased the same exact top later in the weekend (not kidding). Aside from the top, the rest of the ensemble is effortless and practical.

Sometimes it seems like in order to be “fashionable” you need to wear something ridiculously uncomfortable and out of the box. This Fashionista proves that real, everyday clothing can still look stylish as ever. Truly, who doesn’t love a comfy pair of jeans and sandals? The ripped denim keeps the look young and casual. The outfit is topped off with delicate jewelry that has a hint of turquoise to bring out the blue in the top. The necklace and bracelets coordinate beautifully without looking too matchy. A fringe cross-body bag is a simple way to add extra texture to an outfit. Lastly, always complete each look with a smile, just like the one this Fashionista is rocking!

How To: The off-the-shoulder trend is easy to accomplish and even easier to find. Almost every single trendy store has some version of an off-the-shoulder look, such as Zara, Forever 21 and H&M. The nice part is that it doesn’t just have to be a top; it can be a dress too (which I also own)! This look is flattering on all kinds of body types and worth the try. As the fall clothing starts entering retail stores, the summer clothing will hit the sale racks, so keep an eye out!
