STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Romper Rage

May 16th, 2016 at 2:00am

The school year is winding down, and summer is quickly approaching. As the weather gets warmer, it is imperative to have a go-to staple piece. The patterned romper that this Fashionista wears is perfect for wearing to dinner, out for a fun day of activities or for lounging around in.

This romper is a great piece because it is causal, but can also be dressed up if necessary. Because the entire romper is patterned, it is great to wear it with a simple pair of boots and a few bracelets as seen on this Fashionista. The shades of blue and white are a great contrast with the brown boots. The dark blue and white also contrast with each other, and the fringe makes the outfit really pop.

The brown boots give this look a more casual feel, while also adding an element of stylish comfort. If you’re going to a festival or walking outside, it is always nice to have shoes that are comfortable to walk in. The boots are a great staple as they can be easily taken from winter to summer. The color is also light enough that they can be worn with many different colors and styles of clothing.

The blue patterned romper has a synched waist and a tassel tie, which adds detail to the look. This Fashionista paired the outfit with simple bracelets, such as the white studded cuff. The cuff is a great choice, seeing as it adds detail but does not distract from the romper, which is the central focus of the look. She also added a simple star necklace, which is a great dainty piece to complete the look.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Strike a balance between boldness and comfort. Pick one statement piece or two, like my romper!”

Hi guys I’m Erica! I’m currently a sophomore at Tulane majoring in communications and minoring in business. I am from Florida, but would love to live in New York City someday. My favorite season is fall (real fall not Florida fall), I like dogs more than cats, my favorite dessert is tiramisu, and I am a huge fan of Wes Anderson movies. I have always loved fashion and am so excited to be a style guru! I mostly stick to clean lines and neutral colors, although I do love to mix in a bold print every once in awhile. I follow Song of Style (Aimee Song) and Sincerely Jules (Julie Sarinana) on Instagram and love how they incorporate simple items to create a fashionable and versatile outfit. I love shoes, especially boots, and am always trying to find boots that can be worn throughout every season. My favorite item of clothing would have to be a great pair of dark blue skinny jeans that you can dress up or down. I also am a huge fan of accessories. Sunglasses and some simple rings or bracelets can make any outfit look chic. One technique I am planning on incorporating as a style guru this semester is the use of makeup, specifically a bold lip. I also want to use nail polish as an accessory to perfect a look that pops. Chiara Ferragni, also known as The Blonde Salad, usually wears a bold red lip and wears lots of print, so I will be trying to incorporate parts of her style into some of my looks for this semester!
