WHAT TO WEAR: Brunch

March 7th, 2016 at 2:00am

If you don’t go to brunch when living in New Orleans, then you are not living. For Tulane students especially, it is the most popular meal of the week, and the one that I personally look forward to the most! There are a plethora of restaurants to check out whether you want to look Uptown, or near the French Quarter. This month’s Fashionista is wearing the perfect brunch outfit for the winter and spring months.

This Fashionista opted to wear an alice + olivia cobalt blue floral top. I have seen a lot of blue and white floral combinations lately, especially rompers and nice blouses. The blue and white colors are perfect for winter in the south, and this top can easily transition between winter and spring. The sheer material makes it great for a light feel.

The bag that she wears is a perfect piece that ties in the brown boots and gold jewelry with the outfit. The various shades of browns were also a consistent trend this season, and go great for a winter look particularly. Because her outfit was paired with gold jewelry, a brown bag was the perfect combination.

The gold necklace has been a huge trend across various college campuses. Worn with just about anything, this jewelry piece is an outfit staple with a bit of personalization attached to it. The necklace ties the look together by matching with her bag and boots.

One Simple Change: To take this look to class I would swap out the purse with a backpack or more school appropriate bag, and add a pair of flats or more casual boots to make the look a little less dressy.

Hi guys I’m Erica! I’m currently a sophomore at Tulane majoring in communications and minoring in business. I am from Florida, but would love to live in New York City someday. My favorite season is fall (real fall not Florida fall), I like dogs more than cats, my favorite dessert is tiramisu, and I am a huge fan of Wes Anderson movies. I have always loved fashion and am so excited to be a style guru! I mostly stick to clean lines and neutral colors, although I do love to mix in a bold print every once in awhile. I follow Song of Style (Aimee Song) and Sincerely Jules (Julie Sarinana) on Instagram and love how they incorporate simple items to create a fashionable and versatile outfit. I love shoes, especially boots, and am always trying to find boots that can be worn throughout every season. My favorite item of clothing would have to be a great pair of dark blue skinny jeans that you can dress up or down. I also am a huge fan of accessories. Sunglasses and some simple rings or bracelets can make any outfit look chic. One technique I am planning on incorporating as a style guru this semester is the use of makeup, specifically a bold lip. I also want to use nail polish as an accessory to perfect a look that pops. Chiara Ferragni, also known as The Blonde Salad, usually wears a bold red lip and wears lots of print, so I will be trying to incorporate parts of her style into some of my looks for this semester!
